Das muss man sich einmal auf der Zunge zergehen lassen...

Da hatte wohl einer nicht auf die Weltkarte geschaut ...
Selbst im Nordatlantik gibt es genug für die Marines zu tun, Island, Norwegen, ...

Das Statement geht in die entgegengesetzte Richtung, der Vorsatz ist:

"Some examples of what had been the conventional wisdom and that lost credibility when tested in the series are:"

Diese Beispiele von "conventional wisdom", an deren Festen gerüttelt wurde (im Sinne von: die man überdenken muss), sind dann die gelisteteten:
- Krieg zwischen Rot und Blau wird immer nuklear
- Blaue Verteidigung Europas ist unmöglich ohne auf Kernwaffen zurückzugreifen
- Die GIUK-Sperre ist essentiell um den Atlantik zu sichern
- Trägergruppen im Mittelmeer oder Norwegischer See überleben nicht.
- Amphibische Kriegsführung und USMC haben keine Rolle.

Daher auch der Folgesatz: "Much of the importance of the first Global series, then, was not so much what it tended to prove but in what it led people to question."
